About The Series

Everybody's an outsider to somebody's inner circle.

New in town. New job. New to church, or done with church, or never sure you belonged in the first place. The Bay Area is full of people who moved here for a role and never quite found a room. That feeling has a name, and Jesus kept walking straight toward it.

The first church didn't grow by staying inside the circle. In Acts 8–11 the story breaks out. Into the neighborhood everyone avoided, to the movement's fiercest enemy, into the home of a Roman officer nobody thought God noticed. Over six Sundays we'll follow real, specific people God reached for on purpose, and what it means for the ones who still feel like they're on the outside looking in.

Growth doesn't hand you new problems.

It shows you the ones you already had. Ps. Sam on what happens when the scope gets bigger — a bigger team, a company of your own, people whose health insurance and paychecks now run through you.

If you plan ahead, you'll do better as things grow. If you don't, growth won't create that problem. It'll just turn the volume up on it. That's the pattern in Acts 6, and it's the pattern in a career.
