What do I do with my kids at church?

Bringing kids to a church you have never been to is a logistical problem before it is a spiritual one. You are managing a stroller, a check-in process you do not understand, and a child who may or may not cooperate, all while trying to figure out where the bathroom is.

Here is how it works. You arrive a bit before 10:30, ideally around 10:15 when doors open, and go to the kids check in. It takes about two minutes. You get a tag, your child gets a matching one, and only someone with the matching tag can pick them up. Every leader in the room has been background checked. Hue Kids runs from nursery through 5th grade, so infants through about age eleven are covered.

If your child is not ready to be dropped off with strangers, which is extremely common on a first visit, you are welcome to keep them with you in the service. Nobody is going to give you a look when a toddler makes noise. This is a room full of people who understand.

For parents of babies specifically, you can stay in the main room and step out whenever you need to. Nothing about leaving in the middle is a problem, and it does not require an explanation.

The real thing we would say is that you should not have to have this figured out in advance to come. Tell us you are visiting and roughly how old your kids are, and someone will meet you at the door and walk you through it so you are not solving it alone with a diaper bag on your shoulder.
