Common Questions

What should I wear to church?

Wear whatever you already own. Most people at Hue.Church show up in jeans and a t-shirt, some come straight from a hike or a shift at work, and a few wear a button-down because they like to. Nobody is checking, and nobody will say anything about your clothes.

This question comes up more than almost any other, and it is usually not really about clothes. It is about whether you are going to walk in and instantly feel like you got something wrong. That is a fair thing to worry about. Most of us have been the new person somewhere and felt the room clock us.

So here is the plain answer. There is no dress code. On a normal Sunday you will see jeans, hoodies, running shoes, sandals, work clothes, a couple of people in a dress or a collared shirt, and at least one person who clearly came from something else and is still wearing it. All of that is normal here. None of it gets a second look.

If you want a slightly more useful answer, dress the way you would to meet a friend for coffee. Comfortable, like yourself, nothing you have to keep adjusting. The building can run cool in the winter, so a layer is not a bad idea, but that is genuinely the extent of the advice.

The reason we are relaxed about this is not that we think it does not matter what you look like. It is that we think the version of you that showed up is the one we actually want. Ps. Sam has preached about walking into rooms as a kid in India with a name that made him stick out, wanting badly to fit in and be one of the cool kids, and how long it took him to believe that God knew him by name rather than by how well he was performing. A church that understood that story is not going to turn around and grade you at the door.

Come as you are on a Sunday. If you want to know what the rest of the morning looks like before you commit, you can read what actually happens at a service, or just plan your visit and let us know you are coming.
